Childhood – Part 2 (does anybody remember Part 1?)
Nothing beats a genuine smile,
Especially when you are in the front seats,
Driving us to the school, shopping, or to the temple,
Which used to make the best sweets.
In my mind the market was a glitzy place,
A straight road led us to it,
To lots of lights, toys and ice-cream,
A place for a kid to fulfil his temporary dreams.
You used to hop in the car, in the driver’s seat,
With a smile always by your side,
And together you used to take me to it,
Even on a Sunday, when I refused to believe.
That was when I realized, happiness is always in one’s head,
The market may be closed, it may be hot, murky,
But you can be happy thinking anything but that.
In the front seat, happy.. with 4 fledglings in the back
