Emerging sprightly from the bowels,
Of mother Earth with all the might,
Concrete hands, obsession writ large
Yet divinity dawns upon the sight.
I have walked many miles,
Thousands with you, as many away,
Lived many years in your houses and lanes
Till the will ran out and the mind swayed
To seemingly greener pastures,
But none that brings the easy smile,
Like the one I get when I look at you,
With ache in my heart, memories to rue.
Rise, rise my city, raise more children,
Zip through between the two blues.
Harbor the two worlds as well as you do,
The glum dwellers beside the towering you.
Hide, hide as well as you can,
This child will always see you,
In all the glory, fluttering in the morning air,
With open eyes, in his hearts deepest lairs.
